Good morning and thanks for bearing with me by this hour, have you had any breakfast yet?
- Hey Leiyah! Oh, no problem. No, no breakfast yet but I’m on it!
So, you’ve been down with the scene since the late 90’s how has that affected and inspired your line of work? Is it any collaboration or project that has a special place in your heart?
-You mean like, back then? The market is constantly changing but I’ve had a lot of special songs through the years, especially the record I did with Nu-Mark and the songs with Prince Paul.
Is there any specific course of events and artists that have inspired the music you make?
- Yeah, in the late 80’s I listened a lot to Big Daddy Cane, LL Cool J, KRS One, and that kind of stuff. Nowadays I listen to all kinds of stuff but I like Masta Ace a lot.
Some have pointed out that you don’t really seem to develop; you pretty much sound the same as you did when you started, and others salute you for your personal sound and lyrics. How do you feel about it?
- I just do my own stuff and are happy with that, there’s always going to be people who disagree with what you do. I just have this great love for the music and I try my best to show it.
I very much feel that “then what happened?” is like an open journal.
What was your ambition when you put it together?
- I don’t think I could describe it better than you just did; it’s definitively a reflection of where I’m at personally right now.
You’re playing in Stockholm next week, what do you think about the Swedish audience?
- I haven’t been in Sweden that much but it’s always nice to see how many people that engage in the underground hip-hop-scene, they definitively have a passion for it.
Yeah well, ha-ha…We’re known hiphoplovers, and you have many fans here.
I look forward to your visit.
- Thank you and right back at ya!
But before we go, I have to ask; what’s going to happened next?
-There’s a lot of movement in NY right now, I’m working on a producer album and are trying to pick out the artists that’s gonna be on it right now.
Allright, I think I got it now, thank you for your time and patience!
- No problem, it’s been a pleasure.
